The loans will be extended to beneficiaries starting from June 2008, both male and female, as per a list submitted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

 

To avail a loan, nationals will have to provide proper documentation as well as a blueprint of the house they propose to build. 

Last month the state decided to raise the upper limit for housing loans to be given to Qatari government employees to QR800,000.

The decision makes the housing loan amount uniform for all categories of state employees.

The loan is to be used to buy plots of land to build houses.

The size of the plot to be bought in Doha should be not less than 625 square metres,

Outside the limits of the capital, the plot size has been fixed at 1,000 square metres.

 

A new law passed recently has brought down the minimum age for citizens to seek a housing loan from the government to 22 years provided he or she is married or divorced and supporting one of the parents or siblings.

If a single Qatari (not divorced) is applying for a housing loan, his or her minimum age should be 35 years. 

The new housing law provides two options to a national seeking a housing loan. 

He or she can get a loan and build a house on his or her own or buy a ready one, provided the conditions specified by the Department of Housing at the Ministry are met.
